DIY Bobbin FRAME

Painted or left natural, bobbins add a fun and playful touch to a basic frame.

New Mat, New Look

A basic white mat is standard when buying a frame, but by changing out your mat, you’re able to transform the overall look of both your frame and print. Here are a few of our favourite ways to customize your mat.

  1. Spray paint your mat. Off-white spray paints by Rustoleum or Krylon lend a lovely touch, especially when displaying vintage artwork. Or select a colour that compliments the print you're framing. Simply spray paint your mat, let it dry and voila! A custom look for a fraction of the cost.
  2. Order a custom mat. This Canadian, custom mat shop is terrific. Everything is completely customizable. The round window is an especially nice touch.

  3. Purchase a pre-cut mat in store. Michael’s has a great selection of pre-cut double mats. For around $10, you can give your frame a completely custom look, while enhancing the artwork displayed.
